Down the Graduation Lane - with Kshitiz Goyanka

Date- 7th March, 2015

Place- Ashok Vatika, IET-DAVV

Influential people are formed as a result of people who get inspired by them; by people who are motivated by them, adore them and undoubtedly respect them for who they are as an entity! Being a pass-out although; his every visit to Indore brings him to his Alma Mater where he is surrounded by people- discussing with him on varied topics, greeting him etc. We all know him and are fascinated by him- Kshitiz Goyanka  and although being decided upon for a formal meet-up with him about his ‘success’/’popularity’ story I actually ended up with this informal excerpt of talk with him.
Starting the interview at our college’s top spot Ashok Vatika I could see his reluctance in sitting on those “benches” being highly nostalgic about his yester years. Finally we began: "So, Kshitiz Sir would begin this from the very start- your admission and getting to Civil branch of IET."

He replied with a broad smile on his face, "Well it started with at first being allotted the IT branch in IET. Then, I got an upgradation to IT of GSITS andwithin the 2 ½ days adventure there; I begin missing badly my short fun filled tenure at IET. And what I actually wanted was Mech/Civil and henceforth my destined end comes through CLC at Civil branch at IET-DAVV."

Amazed as I was, "So you had been allotted GSITS and still wanted to be here back?" "Yeah, the college life is 'barbaad' there, seriously! And even being back here I felt about going back to IT to get well with my backlog of syllabus. And then I went about going for section change to be with my friends." There was a broad smile on his face describing these incidents and being reminded of how he was termed as “Rancho” by AKG Sir and once asked by Arti Sharan Mam regarding where has he decided to settle finally...

His spectacular ride proceeds as he gets influenced by the college’s hallmark ‘The Forces’ (despite being a localite :D)- joining it and eventually turning out a big part of it to the extent that it being the only club he joined in his college life. He told, "I went for arranging great sponsorships for the club events mainly the TV and Radio ones, which turned out as a new concept altogether. And so forth I being the only first year one to be cordially invited for success party of ‘Udaan’."

Our interview session proceeded with quite a many college students having on the way interaction with him. The best part being his acknowledging each one of them with their names thereby explaining his charisma among students! It is his this connectivity with his juniors, that provoked a feeling in him to introduce the concept of Fresher's Party in our college. It was his idea, & with his group of 14 friends he planned a splendid get-together party for their junior batch. And this led to a culture of celebration & now, we actually have a party every year to bond with both our seniors & juniors! (We can never thank him enough for that, seriously! :D )

His active spirits prospered as he stood up for University Elections from Civil Department in which he even ended up being the unopposed finalist. He  proceeded about how he became eventually the face of Civil Department- a part of schedule management along with Pratosh Bansal Sir.  His social entity and inclination towards organizational betterments flourished as he came up with idea of Student Help-Desk in admissions. "My initiative was mainly keeping in mind what I myself faced at time of admissions." he added. This initiative was supported by Atri Sir with Kshitiz sir himself turning out a major part of the procedure just after faculties in his pre-final and final years of graduation. He also described his other ventures in these years, about his awesome tenure being a part of ‘I Lead India’ campaign of TOI- undoubtedly his social guts played a major role here too.

He further discussed  about how he then applied for and  became a freelance  reporter at TOI- humorously here too as added, "I actually faced people asking me what an engineer that too a ’Civil’ engineer is doing in reporting and journalism!" He moreover added about his first independent coverage incidents,"My first event of independent coverage was ‘Sfurti’ at university. My IET friends thereby found it fun to see me reporting the event, in which they  themselves were audience saying 'Ki yeh kya pagal bana raha hai yaar ab tu!' and with my article for same being actually published in newspaper, they were literally amazed!"

Then his story arrived at Placement point- "So sir, what about the Placement part I mean you would have been for campus placements here right?”  His answer was, "Yupp, I did and got selected at Infosys- which I declined realizing my inaptness for that position. I didn't find myself fit there and my aspirations were rather different then!”
Finally he spoke about his present endeavors, "I applied off campus for placements at Mu-Sigma months before and was recruited there as Trainee Decision Scientist. Then being internally promoted, I am presently here at post of Sales Ambassador where I help the company to find new clients in USA and Canada - afterall this was something that suited actually my own persona!"

Ending with the conversation; I finally freed him- leaving him with all his sweet reminiscences of past of his fantastic graduation years, although with many more incidents undoubtedly left unshared still. He happily emphasized, "This life at college is going to be missed badly and we look back with regrets at what we miss. IET is an awesome place and trust me; the 4 years here brought me ultimate fun and contentment!"  His message for all of his juniors being, "Yaar, I always suggest for all that just Live free, Have fun in utmost way, Take up things but with a free and not a conscious mind and of course remember that there is no end to opportunities  until we are satisfied with ourselves  in life."In this manner being pleased realizing that how he has effectively established himself in the college and of course in all of our hearts!!
